Primote is presently the largest Korean-owned brass producer in the world.  Located in the vicinity of Qingdao, China, Primote boasts over 150 highly skilled employees, two spacious factory buildings, two on-site employee residence buildings, many other production-related facilities, and machinery including those for painting, stamping, lost wax, etc.

Primote builds for only a select few importers.  They are very choosy in deciding who to work with.  Currently, Primote produces for one German importer (Kiss Modellbahnen), one Swiss importer (Lematec), and Broadway Limited Imports, LLC/Precision Craft Models.  Lematec is the successor to the former Lemaco who boasted the highest quality standards for European brass imports. They produce in all gauges of diesel, steam, and rolling stock.

All Primote brass engines are smooth runners.  BLI’s Brass Great Northern S-2, New Haven I-5 and PCM’s Brass UP Big Boy are all built by Primote and they are all excellent runners.  The quality has one unmistakable source: Primote's owner, Mr. Sangrae Lo. Mr. Lo has long been considered the very best model train engineer in the world by experts in brass. All design is done in Korea by the most experienced designers under Mr. Lo's close supervision.

Why are Primote's products different from those produced by others?

Most of the brass products currently produced in Korea suffer from sub-par production conditions.  Small spaces, a lack of employees, and a lack of competent engineers (who have all but deserted the field of model engineering) all contribute to negatively affecting previously competent builders. Most of these other builders are subcontracting their work to inexperienced subcontractors in China as it has become almost impossible to do the manufacturing in Korea.  Models are damaged during shipment from the subcontractors in China and the subcontractors lack even the most basic know-how required to produce brass engines.  In contrast, Primote houses all critical manufacturing processes under the same roof, where the skilled Chinese labor can be closely monitored by eight experienced and competent Korean supervisors. The result is a final product that is nothing short of the highest quality.
