Dieselization began in earnest after WWII and EMD's switchers dominated the market. The NW2 model featured a 1000 hp V-12 567-A engine -- 888 such locomotives were built by 1950.

EMD's first 1200 hp yard switcher was the SW7 and it also featured a V-12 567-A engine -- 450 units were built between 10/49 and 01/51.

The appearance of the NW2 Phase V and the SW7's is very similar, as they had the same size carbody and louver patterns. Differences are in the radiators and window shapes on the cabs. Broadway Limited Imports, LLC will offer models of the NW2 Phase V, and the two variations of the SW7's -- Phase I and II.
